The Euripides quote paraphrased here about the useful trait of skepticism comes to the fore particularly in the question of a soul. Empiricism has led us to believe it is not a transient spirit that leaves the body upon death, but something much more tangible and finite. A complicated mix of culture and theology would have us believe otherwise, but the poetic waxing about a hereafter seems like extraneous comfort at best.
lyrics
it is a question of physiology
and the combination of man’s most valuable trait
a judicious sense of what not to believe
but I read real hard with no answer to find
and all satire aside it nagged at me
if an unexamined life is not worth living
then I’ve forged my weight in gold with grief
how else could one explain the dissipation of a mortal coil unleashed
than the breath of sweat that finite warmth
that I’ve seen at work from the head to the feet
but I couldn’t give a fuck what they want me to believe
and when we're brought to the brink
and we let go of that need
it is nothing but heat
I don't mean to be a "first albums only" elitist or anything of the sort since I didn't even discover these guys til maybe a year and change ago, but truth be told- the demo tracks are my favorites despite Deafheaven's undeniable growth and evolution into a broader sort of awesome. satangutsandchristcorpsepaint
Agreed with Dima1979 this is a fucking Gem. A platinum grade beauty that is going to hold the test of time.
I’ll never bore of this album it’s so diverse in style per minute it’s almost schizophrenic.
It also has a pair of tits on the cover! What the fuck more you need… Tell Ya Fucking Story Walking…
Punk rock has gone stale with kids trying to relive a generation they were never part of, while Dangers try's to break free from the generic reproduction of radio friendly punk immacculate_vibes
