The debate of “political correctness” in the context of shit-talking rages on. This begs the question of what is lost by locking up language and ideas even when it is done for the right reasons. Are the boundaries of what is off-limits in radical culture harmful or constructive? Who sets these boundaries, and at what point does implied/contextual understanding conflict with dictionary definition? Who owns these meanings, and can they be reclaimed?
lyrics
sincerity is a hard hand to play
cutting down all our old friends
awash in sarcasm and alcohol
with the banalities of pubescence
where such arrogance is no luxury of the defeated
and the notions leech circumscribed by boys’ speech
and all empathy is unseated
when your knees get weak
and your conscience falls fast asleep
do you water the native grass
like the internalized weeds
but the debate rages
if we’re detracted or augmented
if our skins grow thick in cruelty or improvement
I am sure some would stop us right there
under the auspice of containment
and I am certain that some might find it scathing
but wit sarcasm and criticism
form the basis of further conversation
I don't mean to be a "first albums only" elitist or anything of the sort since I didn't even discover these guys til maybe a year and change ago, but truth be told- the demo tracks are my favorites despite Deafheaven's undeniable growth and evolution into a broader sort of awesome. satangutsandchristcorpsepaint
Agreed with Dima1979 this is a fucking Gem. A platinum grade beauty that is going to hold the test of time.
I’ll never bore of this album it’s so diverse in style per minute it’s almost schizophrenic.
It also has a pair of tits on the cover! What the fuck more you need… Tell Ya Fucking Story Walking…
Punk rock has gone stale with kids trying to relive a generation they were never part of, while Dangers try's to break free from the generic reproduction of radio friendly punk immacculate_vibes
