about

At some point, the collective and enforced goals of youth reveal themselves to be improbable and often impossible. This is about all of those who set the bar low, going after the path of least resistance and embracing the mundane with reckless unconscious abandon. Although drive and desire are finite wells from which to draw, it is the only way to remain alive with purpose. When one of the greatest assholes of history, Alexander, was offered half a continent by the Persian king Darius as an appeasement to stop warring against him, his general Parmenion said if he were Alexander, he would readily accept the proposition. As an affront to both sensibility and courtesy, he responded, “So would I, if I were Parmenion.”

lyrics

I thought that disgust running through my veins
would subside all that rancor piss and vinegar
through the unqualified litmus test of time
but every man standing next to me
I see only fraud and impunity
sated and blessed with a fire quenched before it was set
the swollen misfortune and infamed
breathing heavily with regret and shame
so would I as a thousand-fold Parmenion
looking for a means to cope
in this culpable malaise
we should have cast that Grecian thing into the sea
while we had a chance
